The month of May

May 23rd, 2006 by mortalk

Almost one and half months have passed since I last updated my blog. The month of May is full of activities, there is labour day, vesak day and mothers’ day for Malaysian at least.

End of April I went to the Food and Hotel Asia 2006 expo in Singapore Expo centre. It was my first time in such a big commercial exhibition. It was an eye-opener in terms of food, equipments and people. For 2 and half days I explored the 7 halls full of exhibits. I did lots of tasting as well. I think I need to put up a single post just for the event.

I was there til labour day. It was a fun trip, caught up with many friends that I used to know in Melbourne and have not seen them for a while. The only disappointment is that I did not manage to visit "Xi Yan", an Asian fusion restaurant operate by some HK restaurantuer in Sg.

As soon as I got back, there is the big catering event. Caterer for 200 per day  over 3 days for the opening and Vesak celebration of Losang Dragpa Centre in KL. I was a major event for me especially I have not caterer for so many ppl at a distance for a while. The last time I did such a big event was a housewarming for 600 ppl. I had lots of helper for that one. The hardest thing about this one is cokking is done remotely and there is lots of logistic and coordination required. Glad in all went smoothly. I am also proud that there is minimal wastage especially on the first day when all the food was finished. I will be posting up pictures on this soon. been too busy to do so.

There was another catering for last weekend for 40. It went smoothly except it started late and some of my food looks dull after staying in the food warmer for so long. But the good news is majority of the guest are from Sg and one of them even said, "This is the best vegetarian meal I have had since been here (KL) for a week."

If things go on like this, I think Om will be running by itself in no time. I guess I have to start preparing for my next venture… cooking class :D

January 3rd, 2006 by mortalk

Recalling 2005, I think life has treated me well and I have experienced many new and different things. Although life is very different here, I have learned to live differently and grow stronger.

I have met many new friends and also tried out many different role; a direct-sales MLM activist, constuction project manager, event organizer, chef, food critic, pro-active event attendant (for weddings and birthdays), party animal, restaurateur, participated in several cooking competitions and many more… What is my favourate? I think I like to organise event and cook… wish I will meet up with more people from event management and start preparing huge glamorous and classy parties soon.

Almost there

January 3rd, 2006 by mortalk

Happy new year to all and best wishes !!! More than 2 months have passed since I last updated my blog. The good news is that I have lots of fun and hard work renovating my cafe project. Check out the renovation progress picture. It’s still a bit messy, but I think it will be done and look great by this week. Yes, I will upload the completed picture soon. Please feel free to email me and let me know what you think about the work so far?

Didn’t realise end of year can be that busy, went to 4 weddings, celebrated dong zhi festival (end of winter), christmas and welcoming the start of the new year. Since there is so many events, you must be wondering what have I done and if I have taken any new pics, you are sure there is plenty of pictures to sure. Dong Zhi album and New Year celebration are some of them. I celebrated at the street party @ Ikano Power Station and the Curve. It was huge and the fireworks is great. I also decided to share some pictures of my gym at One Utama.

Another good news to share, I won second price in a cooking competition for Dong Zhi, I also shown some of the entries and my entry in the Dong Zhi festival.

Another week

October 24th, 2005 by mortalk

Up and down, another week has passed. The cafe is still not ready, I guess my patience is really running low. What can I do? Should I be so brave to open a cafe/bistro in my hometown and serve the local people. It will be great I think cos there is no competition, tho the rent is low, people might not pay the price too. I think there is really lack of good food in my hometown now. There is only 2 wanton noodle places to eat and a few restaurants that serve seafood.

Today there is a funny feeling, I think I have found or realised that there is not enough variety in terms of food ppl eat daily. Am I being unreasonable or is it just how most people like to lead their lifes? Ask yourself, when was the last time u try something new? I am really looking forward to trying new stuff when the cafe open.

Thats all for today.. have a nice week and hope I will update the post again soon. Hope you like the pics and do email me if you have any comments or you can leave it here too. Thank you.

Last week also went for some Tibetian buddism events. It was really enlightening and good for focusing one’s mind. It has been a while since my sat in a room full of people chanting and meditating, so I am glad I was there.  There was prayers and also animal liberation work. I feel like a better being and blessed.

Om Mani Pad Me Hum

I dedicated this post to the success of the Maitreya project and remove any and all obstacle of funding for the project; to celebrate compasion and world peace. Let’s take a moment to reflect on the deeds we have we lately. Om Ah Hum.

OM Cafe

October 17th, 2005 by mortalk

Busy busy 2 weeks has passed. My cafe dream is really coming soon. Although I am only one of the partners, it is a great start. It will be a casual cafe located in a office block and served modern Asian rice dishes. If you ask me what would it be, I believe it will be a great and lifely place for people to eat and relax. Customer will also enjoy their work even more because it provides a comforting location for them to unwind even just for an hour during lunch.

I will upload more pics as soon as the reno starts. Current am waiting for the tenancy agreement and offer letter from the management office.

Philosophy

If decision is the barrier to excel in life, how many decisions is required to excel?

ONE. The one to move on and excel.

What is ethic?

Humanity……… the only fail-safe switch for this world.

If all systems can fail, how can one prevent the failure of the world?

Keep growing and evolving so the system can grow and adapt. Live in present and keep moving forward.
